How to prepare your student for the school year: A letter to a parent from Sara Wiener Consulting located in Bend, Oregon.
To begin, go to Staples or Office Max for your favorite supplies. I actually prefer Staples. Have your child go with you so he or she can choose the things that that your student likes- it’s really important that your child likes what he or she is using as it will be USED more than if you choose something for your child that doesn’t thrill.

Is your life full of messes? Do you feel like your brain is full of a mess like the one on your desk, in your bedroom, and in the kitchen? It’s true. The mess in your space reflects the mess in your brain. And vise versa. Let’s fix that! Is your child underachieving in school? Are they super smart but scattered? Learn how you can help your struggling student in Bend, OR and the central Oregon area at Sara Wiener Consulting. It can be so hard to be the parent of a student who is underachieving at school and in life. You know your child is smart. You know they are wired differently. You know that if they could just buckle down and do their work, they would do well and get A’s instead of D’s. It’s so hard to watch this and feel powerless as a parent. Here are a few things to think about and consider. Does your child or student have ADHD? Do you? Does your spouse? Sara Wiener Consulting can help. I am an ADHD coach for kids and adults located in Bend, OR servicing all of Central Oregon. An ADHD coach is someone who can help you get a handle on those challenging things that just don’t come naturally. If you have a child with ADHD, they are probably super smart but scattered. Does that sound familiar? Kids with ADHD are super smart intellectually but have challenges with everyday, “simple” things. They may be able to do very difficult academic work but not be able to turn in their homework. Your husband may have ADHD like symptoms and you are frustrated that he doesn’t seem to be listening to you, doesn’t do what he promises to do, or he’s lying a lot as a way to not disappoint you. What does this mean and how can we help our kids? What does executive functions mean? What is an executive function anyway? Is it what a CEO does behind their desk? No. Definitely not! Executive functions are those behaviors that your brain manages to make sure can get to meetings on time, that you remember your doctor’s appointment, and that you turn in your homework. They help us get things done. |
